Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport (ABV): 2026 Guide
Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) is the gateway to Nigeria's capital, known for being cleaner, more organized, and less chaotic than Lagos. However, understanding its layout saves time and money.
Terminal Layout
Abuja Airport has effectively one large complex divided into wings:
1. International Terminal (New)
A world-class facility opened recently.

Transport to City Center
The airport is about 40km (30-45 mins) from the Central Business District (CBD).
1. Abuja Light Rail (Metro)
- Status: Check operation. When running, it's the cheapest way (~₦1,500) to the Metro Station in CBD.
- Pros: Avoids traffic.
- Cons: Schedule can be irregular.
2. Airport Taxis
- Official Taxis: Painted green/white. Reliable but haggle hard.

3. Ride-Hailing (Uber/Bolt)
- Availability: High.
- Pickup: Drivers may ask you to come to the car park upstairs or pay a "toll fee".
- Cost: ₦8,000 - ₦12,000 (surge pricing applies).
Services & Lounges
- SDS Lounge (International): Excellent standard.
- Air Peace Lounge (Domestic): exclusively for Air Peace premium passengers.
- Gabfol Lounge: Accessible via payment or Priority Pass.
Insider Tips
- Food: The "Domestics" area (outside the terminal) has cheaper local food canteens if you have a long wait.
- Friday Traffic: Traffic from the airport into town on Friday afternoons (mosque time + weekend rush) can be brutal. Plan for 1.5 hours.
