History
Murtala Muhammed International Airport, named after Nigeria's former military head of state, was officially opened in 1979. The airport was built to replace the old Ikeja Airport, which had become too small to handle the growing air traffic in Lagos.
The airport has undergone several major renovations and expansions over the years, including the construction of a new international terminal in 2000 and ongoing modernization projects. Today, it stands as a testament to Nigeria's aviation development and serves as the country's primary international gateway.
